As residents of Milnerton, we’re no strangers to the unbearable stench, the unsafe water, and the health risks that have plagued our community for over a decade. The pollution from the Milnerton Lagoon—caused by the City’s ongoing failure to maintain and upgrade wastewater infrastructure—has drastically affected our quality of life. Now, the City is proposing increased property rates and service tariffs across Cape Town, based on property values that no longer reflect the environmental realities in our neighbourhood.

Yes, we all want to contribute to a better Cape Town. But we refuse to pay more while getting less.
